Background of the Study
Course scheduling is one of the most complex administrative tasks in universities. At Federal University, Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State, creating an optimal course schedule involves balancing various factors, such as instructor availability, classroom space, student course preferences, and time constraints. Constraint programming (CP) is an optimization technique that can be used to solve scheduling problems efficiently.

This study will explore the use of constraint programming techniques to optimize the course scheduling process at Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and assess how it can improve the efficiency and satisfaction of students and faculty members.

Statement of the Problem
Course scheduling at Federal University, Dutsin-Ma has traditionally been a time-consuming and error-prone process. There are many factors to consider, including class size, instructor availability, room allocation, and student preferences. Current manual methods are inefficient and often lead to conflicts or dissatisfaction. Constraint programming has the potential to streamline this process, but its application in university course scheduling is yet to be explored.

Objectives of the Study

Research Hypotheses

3. The optimized schedule will lead to better use of classroom resources and instructor time.

Significance of the Study
